Utah Jazz @ Denver Nuggets on ESPN
|
The struggling Utah Jazz are in desperate need of not just one win, but a bunch of them. Starting a streak Friday against the Denver Nuggets at the Pepsi Center (10:30 pm ET, ESPN) may be a tall order. Utah is a decent 29-21 SU and 22-27-1 ATS, but eight of their losses have come in the past 10 games, thanks largely to an injury list that just keeps getting longer. Starters Deron Williams and Andrei Kirilenko and reserve center Mehmet Okur are all out with various ailments, the losses contributing to a six-game slide that saw the Jazz lose all five games on a recent road trip. Since snapping that skid last Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Utah has lost two of three. The latest loss was a 97-96 setback against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday. The Jazz couldnt cash as a 2-point home favorite. Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap scored 20 points apiece to lead the Jazz, while Earl Watson finished with 11 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. Denver (29-20 SU, 21-25-3 ATS) also had some recent road troubles, losing the last two of an Eastern road swing, but rebounded with a 109-90 win over the Portland Trail Blazers in the Nuggets first game back on Wednesday. Denver covered as an 8.5-point home favorite. Nene had 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Nuggets, while Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups were both right behind with 20 points each. The teams are 5-5 SU and 4-4-2 ATS in the past 10 meetings. Seven of those 10 have eclipsed the over/under total. The Nuggets won the first meeting this season by a 110-88 count on Oct. 27, cashing as a 3.5-point home favorite. Please install Adobe Flash Player First...
