Is Cozy Contemporary the Perfect Design Vibe For A Home?

I really love to look of really hard contemporary design. Its really clean and stark and often depends more on the architecture of spaces than on dcor for interest.

But it can be a bit Spartanand coldand lacking in comfort.

And I love comfort, though I do not like a clutter of decorative items in any room.

Im really appalled by the whole concept of table-scapes. Thats where you arrange a bunch of unrelated items like multiple framed photos, flower vases, silver candy dishes and who knows what else into an attractive display on top of a chest or table.

First I dont have a particular urge to look at every item of junk I own all the time.

Second all that junk out all the time makes it way too difficult to clean.

And third where am I going to put my reading lamp and my book and my drink?

It just doesnt work with my life style.

But I have another issue with dcor.

I like comfortable furniture and hard contemporary furniture is often uncomfortable. The backs are too low, the arms are often weird, and the furniture is sometimes really large.

And thats where cozy comes into my environment. I want comfort when I sit down or lie down or recline anywhere in my home.

And I dislike flower prints on anything expensive like upholstered furniture. In fact I dont like prints at all.

I do like luxury, though. Velvet works for me, but I dont like too much color. Serenity is what I want.

Christopher Lowell likes to Merchandise his spaces. I always like what he does, but he always goes too far. I dont want all that extraneous stuff everywhere. I just yell, STOP! at the TV. But, of course he just keeps on adding stuff until the rooms arewellstuffed.

I want a cozy contemporary dcor.

1. No clutter. Plenty of room that is just open to walk around and have pets milling around.

2. Lots of light and nothing on end tables except lamps.

3. No drapes. Shades or blinds that are for nighttime privacy.

4. Serene color. Home feels peaceful and quiet.

5. Comfortable furniture and furniture groupings good for conversation. Throws not pillows.

6. Wall art only. If its hanging on the wall its out of the way.

7. Great food at meals and for entertaining.

8. All stuff is put away out of sight. No china cabinets or other stuff on display if it is not in use.

9. No open shelving. Even books are in cabinets.

And thats my style. It is efficient and easy to clean, almost Spartan but comfortable when you sit sleep or recline in the space, and visually uncluttered. Its perfect.
