Content Writing for Aspiring Writers
|
Quality content creates conversions. That is the measurement by which all clients will judge your work when you become a content writer. You can write the most flowery prose, realistic imagery or descriptive character profiles on earth but if you cant write product and service descriptions that cause visitors to click that Buy Now button then you should not be a content writer. There is an art to this and before you market yourself as a professional in the field you really should learn it. Many writers do not and potential clients dont know the difference until it is too late and their websites arent converting with the expensive content they already paid for. The three things you need to focus on when writing content are Keywords, Positioning, and Simplicity. Keywords are the basis of all search engine page ranking so you need to use them properly. Do not spam a keyword over and over again and think that youll get better search results. The algorithms used to determine rank also factor in a little something called Quality Score which measures the relevance and quality of your content. Keep your keyword density between five and ten percent and make sure theyre in the page title, first paragraph, descriptions and Meta tags. Positioning is very important in content writing. Make sure your keywords are positioned early in the page and keep your paragraphs short and to the point. The internet is not like writing for a print publication. The attention span of your reader is typically short and you need to catch their attention in the first few sentences or youll lose them. That first line on the page is critically important. Take some time and think about it before you write. Then write your page of content and look at it again. You may find that the flow of the wording while you were composing the page has changed your thoughts on the opening sentence. Simplicity is what sells when you really want to convert. Dont use language that will confuse your readers. As writers, we all have a good command of the language we write in but we dont have to prove it by using vocabulary that only we understand. Keep your reader in mind when you write content. Get some research done before you begin and find out who might be buying this particular product or service. Your client should have this information. If they dont, raise your price. Its most likely a one shot deal. With the number of new businesses starting on the internet every day there is now a tremendous demand for content writers. You can look on the web and find thousands of individuals who have just thrown their hat in the ring and are making a decent living working from home. Many of these are actually real writers, but there are also a pretty large number of them who dont have a clue what they are doing. Learn how to write content before you put yourself out there. If you know what youre doing and produce results you can charge more and youll retain your clients a lot longer.
